11TH ANNUAL SHERIFF'S FUN DAY PROVES SUCCESSFUL FOR 11TH STRAIGHT YEAR: Jefferson County, Arkansas - May 27, 2017-While continuing to focus its efforts on building stronger community relationships and promoting a "drug free" zone, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office hosted its 11th Annual Sheriff’s Fun Day on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
“For eleven consecutive years, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office have partnered with local agencies, businesses, and the faith-based community in Sheriff's Fun Day. Every year, Sheriff’s Fun Day presents a great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy free food, activities and live entertainment. During this year’s event, we also focused more on drug awareness and prevention by having personnel on-site to speak with attendees about drug prevention, said Major Lafayette Woods, Jr.”
Attendees enjoyed several amusement rides, bounce houses, and a fun packed game trailer filled with prize giveaways for those lucky winners. All attendees could be seen donning bright yellow/black wristbands with the sheriff's office insignia and the inscription, "Sheriff's Office Fun Day", which were used by Sheriff Gerald Robinson and his staff to raffle dozens of prize giveaways ranging from personal services such as free hair cuts donated by Jackie Robinson of Classic Cuts Barber Shop, bicycles donated by Kevin Bonnette of State Farm, Banishing Racial Animosity Everywhere, Inc. of Pine Bluff B.R.A.V.E. and Wal-Mart Super Center to Sony Play Station game consoles, gift card(s) and provided by donations from a host of local churches and businesses.
"Each year we host Sheriff's Fun Day Positive, the event proves more and more successful. We understand that law enforcement community relations are critical for effective crime prevention and the safety of both law enforcement officers and citizens. Sheriff’s Fun Day continues to help shape, while ensuring they have strong figures to help guide them. During Sheriff's Fun Day, deputies and other public safety personnel were able to assist in that effort. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the participants and our dedicated volunteers the event was a wonderful success," said Sheriff Robinson.
Special thanks to our greek organizational volunteers, the lovely ladies of the Alpha Rho and Delta Omega Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as well as the distinguished gentlemen of the Pine Bluff Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
