FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Statement from the Sheriff

April 2, 2025, Jefferson County, AR - Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office stand in solidarity with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. As we observe this significant day, we recognize the challenges and celebrate the unique talents and accomplishments of autistic individuals across our community and the world.

At the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, we are committed to serving every member of our community with respect, dignity, and understanding. This commitment drives our efforts to enhance our officers' training on interacting with neurodiverse individuals and ensuring our policing strategies meet the needs of all citizens.

Today, we also reaffirm our commitment to creating inclusive, supportive spaces for all employees, including those affected by autism, whether personally or through family connections. We strive to foster an environment where every person can thrive and contribute to our mission of safety and service.

We encourage the community to join us in embracing diversity and inclusion, not only today but every day. By learning more about autism and understanding the experiences of those affected, we can build stronger, more compassionate relationships that uplift our entire community.

Let's continue to support one another and work together towards a community that respects and values each person's unique abilities and contributions.
