Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Remembers Investigator Kevin L. Brosch:  Jefferson County, Arkansas - July 24, 2024- Today, we solemnly mark the anniversary of the tragic passing of Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigator Kevin L. Brosch, who, on July 24, 1986, lost his life along with Arkansas State Trooper Charles Bassing and Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigator James Avant in a helicopter crash in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. They were participating in a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Marijuana Eradication Spotter School when the helicopter they were in experienced mechanical failure and crashed shortly after takeoff. Investigator Brosch was just 34 years old and had served our community with dedication and honor for six years.

At the time of his untimely death, Investigator Brosch was survived by his loving wife, two young children, and his parents. His commitment to justice and public safety continues to resonate within our department and community.

Last year, Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr was deeply honored to be contacted by DEA Officials who extended an invite to travel to Quantico, VA to join the Brosch Family and DEA in a Guidon Ceremony honoring Investigator Brosch as part of the DEA BA 242 graduating class. During the ceremony, Sheriff Woods was recognized as a special guest and had the profound privilege of meeting Kevin Brosch's son, Justin Brosch. "It was a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy Kevin left behind and the impact of his service," Sheriff Woods said, adding that today we remember Investigator Kevin L. Brosch for his bravery, dedication, and sacrifice. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Brosch Family for sharing his life with us and for their continued strength and support.

Investigator Brosch's legacy lives on in the work we do every day. His memory serves as a guiding light for all of us in law enforcement as we continue to uphold the values he embodied so well. We honor his sacrifice and reaffirm our commitment to the safety and security of our community.
