SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE:  On January 19, 2025, at approximately 3:11 am dispatchers from the Metropolitan Emergency Communication Association (MECA) received a 911 call from a resident on Billingsley Road regarding a suspected prowler at their neighbor's residence.  Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) Deputies were dispatched to this area to investigate. MECA received a subsequent phone call from another resident on Billingsley Road substantially stating that the suspected prowler had been shot.

An Officer from the Redfield Police Department arrived at the scene prior to JCSO Deputies and took a suspect into custody. Also at the scene was one white male who was deceased. There are no further suspects being considered at this time and the scene is secured.

Investigators from the JCSO Criminal Investigation Division have been called to the scene and are investigating. This is an ongoing investigation, and further information will be released when possible.
