JEFFERSON COUNTY DEPUTIES RECOVER HUMAN REMAINS FROM ARKANSAS RIVER:  On March 27, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Metropolitan Emergency Communication Association received a phone call from a citizen reporting possible human remains on the bank of the Arkansas River in the area of Knotts Island. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) Deputies arrived shortly thereafter and were taken to the location by the caller.  Deputies were able to confirm it to be human remains.

Investigators with the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene to photograph and recover the remains. The remains were transported by a Jefferson County Deputy Coroner to the coroner's office.

The remains will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to obtain a possible identification and cause of death.

This is an ongoing investigation, and any further information will be released when possible.
