A MEMBER OF THE JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE FOLLOWING A DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING: Jefferson County, Arkansas - July 5, 2014-A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator is on paid Administrative Leave following a deputy-involved shooting that occurred in the area of Rhinehart Road and West Pullen Street in the city of Pine Bluff.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have learned that at approximately 3:26 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2014, patrol officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department were dispatched to the city’s north side in reference to the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officer’s located Dedric Jones (36), who had suffered a single gunshot to the chest. Jones was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time. The involved investigator was not injured.
Any/all evidence will be evaluated as this internal investigation progresses. During the investigation, the investigator involved will remain on administrative leave with pay pending the findings in this investigation.
